Mission Statement and Objectives
European Marine Equipment Council (EMEC) stands for a strong European marine equipment industry. It optimises the interaction between the member associations and the European institutions and drives the involvement of companies in all EU programmes for increasing the quality of marine technology and the competitiveness and prosperity of the whole industry.
The core objective of EMEC is to represent the common interests of its member associations, in particular:
- To take care of the mutual interests of the member associations and organisations.
- To deliberate with the organisations of marine equipment suppliers, co-ordinate the contacts and to organise regular meetings for them.
- To inform the members about international developments in the marine industry and to develop arrangements for the exchange of market information at EMEC level as required by the members.
- To promote research and development programmes involving marine equipment and to participate in EC programmes.
EMEC realises the aforementioned objectives through:
- Representing the interests of its members, in particular the member's point of view on European issues in the maritime industry field i.e. technical safety, environmental problems, quality requirements, standardisation etc.
- Securing the effective support for the promotion of fair competition in all potential markets within and outside the European Union.
- Seeking the provision of efficient financial support programmes for export promotion at EU level (e.g. participation in overseas exhibitions and trade missions) where appropriate and/or where, sought and supported by members.
- Encouraging and bringing about the participation of the members in R&D and support programmes of the European Commission.
- Supporting benchmarking activities of the European Commission with regard to the marine equipment industry.
- Developing relationships with other maritime organisations and associations in the maritime field.
