EMECrid mission statement and objectives

EMECrid primary mission is to provide support on RDI matters, which can benefit to the European Equipment manufacturers.

The main objective is the acquiring and implementing of new knowledge and technology in the design and production processes of the systems and functions, as well as of components installed on board ships or devoted to operation and maintenance of ships, shipyards or ports.

The four main objectives of EMECrid are:

1. ENHANCEMENT OF EMEC AS ONE OF THE MAIN ACTORS OF THE EUROPEAN RDI POLICY

EMECRID has to support all future coordination and integration activities, to present its views for the needs and priorities, to be the interface between the EU bodies and the ship equipment industry.

2. PROMOTION OF PROJECT PROPOSALS

Notably in the interest of the ship equipment manufacturers, and with a special care for SMEs. EMECRID will do efforts to enhance the number, the quality and relevance of the projects to be submitted for funding.

3. DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION AND RESULTS OF PROJECTS

EMECRID will do a special effort to disseminate inside and through the National Associations belonging to EMEC the information devoted to the European RDI issues, which are broad and often complex.

4. DEVELOPMENT OF A VISION FOR THE FUTURE OF A STRATEGIC RESEARCH AGENDA and ITS IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

The objective is to identify possible future market requirements and societal needs, in order to assess the technology developments needed in consequence and to deduct a mid – long term RDI vision to achieve these developments. (see EMECrid Research Strategy)
